Weight watchers week 10 Review

Posted by swljuggernaut on May 22, 2010

Well the week started off sketchy, with hurting my neck getting into my car of all things last Saturday, re-agrivating a very old injury but I had another solid week just the same. On the side there you can see all my weight watchers weighins. Those are taken each Saturday morning in the same clothes at 9:30 am. That is my “official weight” as far as the blog is concerned (210.6) . This am just after getting up, in just boxers I was 208.4lbs on my scale! Lightest I have seen in years! Also I am now down nearly 8 inches off my waist. I am comfortably in size 36 pants, where 10 weeks I was stretching the seams of 42 inch pants. I bought a new belt 2 weeks ago, and have already moved 2 knotches on it. Things are going great!

Here’s today’s pics:

The Pic on the left was 10 weeks ago today, and the other this am.

End of Week 8 WW progress pics

Posted by swljuggernaut on May 8, 2010

Well, its been a tough week, but all in all I am happy with where I stand today.  My official Weight Watcher weighin was 213.6 which is down 0.2 pounds from two weeks ago.  This past Monday 5 days ago or whatever I was 214.5 i think on my scale, this am I was 210.8 in boxers and a tshirt, which is 0.3 off the lowest i have been through all of this .  The tracker on the side of my blog will be my Weight Watchers official weighins for as long as I go to the meetings, but the 210.8 is closer to what I really weigh obviously, as we don’t weigh our clothes! lol.  It’s funny because I am in a biggest loser contest at work that runs through July 16th, I have weigh ins on three different scales, weight watchers, home and at work.  But anyway.

So below is this weeks progress pic.  I can definately see some great changes from the first pic.  I have lost another full inch off my waist and I am down under 42 now.  This is the smallest my waist has been in 7 or 8 years, and although the weight is coming off at a slow steady pace that bugs me at times, I am over the moon happy with the waist coming down.  Long ways to go to where I wanna be, but all in all I am happy with my progress.

May 8th progress

Off to enjoy the nice day, I will be back later this weekend.

End of Week 6 Weight Watchers review

Posted by swljuggernaut on April 24, 2010

So I am just finishing up my best week yet in terms of effort and healthy decisions.  I walked a tonne, I moved up to the second level of my BeachBody Power 90 workouts, and I am staying on track with Weight Watchers (albeit still struggling to hit my points with healthy foods).  The past 6 weeks overall is probably the best stretch of eating I have ever had…..EVER.

So here are some numbers for the last 6 weeks.

weight start:   229       weight now:  213.8      (the WW scale)

waist start  48.5 inches    waist now  42 6/8

total inches lost 12

body fat percentage start 31 %    bf now 28%  (still high but its coming)

down 2 pant sizes 42 to 38

need to punch a hole in my belt cause its too big

Picnik collage april 24th

On my scale, in just boxers yesterday I was 210.9.  I haven’t been at this point in 3 years.  Things are really looking good so far, and I am excited to keep going over the next few weeks and months to ingrain these healthy decisions into my life, and make this time For Life and not just another “Resolution”.

Have a good weekend all !

First weekly weigh in that I went up

Posted by swljuggernaut on April 17, 2010

Well it was bound to happen sooner or later.  This week I went up slightly less than 1 pound.  No excuses, it is what it is.  I was a little “off” this week in attitude and with my exercise and eating.  I stayed within my points every single day, and exercised, but I admit that my exercise intensity was not where it should have been.  And the results for the week are where they should be.  I will make it up this coming week.

I got the date wrong on the picture, that was taken this morning April 17th.

End of week 4 weight watchers results and progress pic

Posted by swljuggernaut on April 10, 2010

Well just got back from another weekly weight watchers meeting and weigh in.  The place was packed!  Not a seat left in the place, but sadly I think there was only two of us men.  I had another good week on the scale, dropping another 2.6 pounds.  I am happy with that.  My goal is to maintain a 2-3 lbs loss a week, and so far through 4 weeks I am averaging 3 so I will take it.  I reached two Weight Watcher milestones this morning, have lost 5 percent of my weight and down 10 pounds thus far.

It was not an easy week, first full week back at work, a 48 hour return of my headaches, and my first cravings in a month, but I struggled through and did my best.  I was telling a coworker if I had eaten this “clean” and exercises this much 15 years ago, I would be down 30 lbs easy.  But I do not have the metabolism I did when I was 20, and I was not on medication for blood pressure and other stuff then either.  Be here now.  I am doing well, progressing , and by inch or mile I will get where I want to go.

Now off to do some dishes and stuff before the boss gets home and get ready to watch some golf and go play poker with my friends.  I will be having a couple beer this afternoon, but will stay within my daily weight watcher points.

Oh forgot to add, need to poke a hole in a belt that I have been wearing for 5 years and at one point this year, I thought was going to be too small!  It’s coming.  The scale doesn’t tell the whole story.  The pic below is my weekly progress pic, and its a little decieving because my arms are a little flailed there, and not straight down at my side.  But I’ll take the visual progress!

Day 22 WW, day 7 Power 90 – Video update

Posted by swljuggernaut on April 3, 2010

Beautiful, summer like temperatures in my neck of the woods today.  Last year at this time we had 10 feet of snow !  Today it was 20 degrees celcius.  Unbelievable.  I had a great exercise day, with over 14000 steps on my pedometer as well as doing the Power 90 workout this morning.

Eats were good, I hit all my Weight Watcher points for the first time in a week.  Great day today.

Week 3 WW progress and pics

Posted by swljuggernaut on April 3, 2010

Just got back from my Weight Watchers meeting and can say goodbye to another 3.0 lbs. I am under 220 pounds now and I don’t plan on going back. It was a stressful week, with losing a pet, getting the stomach flu and returning to work, but I made it through the week with some progress to show for my troubles!

Along with being down 3 pounds, I am under 44 inches on my waist. That brings that up over 4 inches lost on my waist so far. I am looking back at some measurements stats I kept over many false attempts in 2009 to lose weight and the last time I measured my waist and found sub 44 inches was May 25th, 2009. So I am really happy about that. I am very happy with my progress so far and I am very happy with Weight Watchers through 3 weeks. It is something that I feel I can maintain and I am off to a good start in making lifestyle changes rather than yet another diet.

I have already gotten my Power 90 workout in this morning, and I am going to get off the computer and go tidy up the kitchen and then head outside in the, get this, SUN!  lol.  I will be back later today.

Weight Watchers week 2 report

Posted by swljuggernaut on March 27, 2010

Well today I went for my third weight watchers meeting and my 3rd weigh in. The verdict is I am down 0.4 pounds.

I did not expect to be down much if at all this week. I am not upset about it, it is what it is. I am happy with my eating this week as far as food choices. I have not eaten enough weight watchers points this week. I struggle to get to 28 points each day and I am supposed to be eating 34. I am happy with my food choices though as I have been eating proper portions of meat, eating fish and eating salads. This was unheard of for me before.

As I mentioned, I did not get in as much exercise this week as I did in week 1. I was walking many days in week 1 for 2.5 hours or more broken into 3 short walks. With the weather and stuff this week I did not get in as much walking, only hitting 10,000 steps on my pedometer 1 day, where last week, I averaged nearly 13 500 steps a day.

I am not discouraged, or mad about it. This week I will lose more. I am starting Power 90 tomorrow, and I will get in my walks. I am returning to work hopefully Friday. I started a new medication this past week so maybe that had something to do with it, I am not sure. I am encouraged by my eating and I really like the weight watchers plan. You can make it as successful as you choose to in my opinion, and I am almost certain I will be staying on it far longer than the 12 weeks I prepaid for it.

I did not weigh in at all this week, and for me at least I think that hindered me a little. A lot of people become slaves to the scale, and get to confident when down, to discouraged when up. I am pretty good of using it for what it is a tool to see where I am. I don’t get to bent out of shape either way about it. So I will weigh myself a couple times through the week as a progress report.

My waist measurement didn’t move this week either. I think that the fat I have gained over the past few years is going to be stubborn. I gained it over a period of years, its not going to go easily. I can easily gain 10 pounds in a week or so, and of course as we all know losing that same 10 can be a much harder proposition. A blogging friend of mine used to blog about weight watchers years ago ( I have lost touch with her) but she talked about something that has stuck with me. She didn’t talk about “losing the weight” but rather about “releasing the weight”. I always liked that way at looking at it. I have built up a wall of fat on my body as a defensive mechanism of sorts. I make fun of myself and call myself fat etc and make myself the butt of jokes and kind of just fell into a huge rut. I am ready now to “release” this weight. To let it go. I know if I keep on plan eating wise, safely up my activity levels, the weight will go. It has no choice. It may put up a fight, but it will go. It will have no choice.

What I did well this week:
-food choices were good, portions what they should be
-kept track of every morcel of food with the weight watchers online tracker
-started power 90 workouts on thursday
-kept a positive attitude

What I can do better this coming week
-Start 90 days of Power 90 tomorrow (Sunday)
-more water
-get all my points in each day
-more walks, aiming for 10,000 steps a day
-get food accounted for earlier in day so that I can plan what I eat better

This weeks comparison picture

progress:

weight: down 0.4 pounds
waist: remained same

blood pressure today: 132/96

Week 1 in Review

Posted by swljuggernaut on March 20, 2010

Well I made it through the first week of Weight Watchers.  It was not without drama not related to the program itself.  I spent seven eye opening hours hooked up to a heart monitor.  It turns out that my heart is ok and not affected by blood pressure or anything else, but I got to tell you, lying in a hospital bed gives you alot of time to think.  All I could think about is, the stuff I can control in regards to my health are going to be taken care of.  I have alot going on, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, bad back, contstant neck pain, blah blah blah.  But all of this can in the grand scheme of things is manageable.  But I can’t put it off anymore.  I can’t allow it to get any worse.  I must take responsibility RIGHT NOW and get control of all this shit.

I was taken off work for another two weeks, I return April 2nd.  As I write this Saturday night, my blood pressure is still high, and my neck is killing me, my headache while soooooo much better than it has been still is there.  These early weeks are important weeks for me in the weight watchers journey because they are when I will get some great habits ingrained and I am home and able to measure out my foods and really make sure I have a great start.  The results will be the best in these first few weeks and then the will peter off to a couple pounds a week in all likelihood.  Its time to get some really great habits established so that when I get back to the real world, IE working for a living I already have the good habits in place and I am ready to really do well.

So here’s my first week in review:

What I did well through my first week

-ate cleaner than I have in years
-walked as much as I could, sometimes up to three times a day, getting in over 13000 steps most days
-wrote down every single liquid or food that entered my mouth

What I didn’t do well

-didn’t hit my points most days
-didn’t get enough water in

What I need to do this week to improve

-hit points for the day!
-improve on my water
-get some stretching in for my back/neck
-get a multi vitamin

First Week Comparison Pictures
