Brief Hiatus continues….
Posted by swljuggernaut on November 14, 2007
Well I still haven’t played online since last Tuesday, and I am not sure how long it will continue. May play the Mookie tonight I may not. Don’t know.
Have been reading thru the blogs this morning, and am sorry to see, but not all that surprised to see that CC, is done at Pokerworks. One by one, the paid bloggers left the site, and I don’t pretend to have ANY idea why they left, I assume the UIGEA is the biggest part of it. He is heading back to his original home so be sure to check him out.
I watched PAD this morning from Tuesday night, and Helmuth was at his whiny, pain in the ass, stealing all the tv time best. He’s good at what he does, draw attention to himself. I can’t stand him. You see Ivey and Ferguson sitting next to him not saying a thing. And him sooking, whining, crying and stuff. Some people will argue Ferguson is not good tv, and Helmuth is. Well, I could do without not watching him again. Tired of his foolishness. Rant over.
All for now, if I decide to play the Mookie tonight, or Riverchasers tommorrow I will live blog em.

History
Posted by swljuggernaut on September 13, 2007
Feeling good about getting back into the groove of writing again even if I am not playing a whole bunch, or saying a whole bunch in my posts! Haha. I love writing and getting back in the groove and just putting out some posts will get me in the writing/thinking poker again.
Another great episode of Poker after Dark (episode 2 of season 2). I love the old time guys, and love any chance to hear the stories from Cloutier, Doyle, or whoever else. I was just telling my buddy that I would love to find some books on the old school guys, even if the tales grew a little “tall”.
One thing I love about poker, is the history. I love watching old games, hearing old stories, and watching players that have history, and even talk about it at the table. Within my group, we’ve been playing together for 2.5 years or so, and there is lots of history, imagine the longtime pros that have logged thousands of hours with each other! TJ and Phil have been talking about it a lot through the first two episodes.
I was saying earlier in the week I wanted to read a poker book before the LPT starts next week but I haven’t had much time between lots of overtime at work and exercising and stuff. Gonna still try and get some reading in but whether it will be a full book or not, I dunno.

HSP and PAD
Posted by swljuggernaut on September 12, 2007
Watched PAD and HSP from Monday night . Both shows were fantastic! On PAD, it is a great lineup for the first episode of season 2. Layne Flack is a nut. Scary good and putting people on hands, and always makes entertaining tv. Doyle, Helmuth, Ferguson (with a strange call to bust out), Seidel and TJ Cloutier. Round out the table. What I love most about PAD is there is little announcing so you get to hear the table talk. A lot of the high stakes players are friends, and/or have been playing together for years so you get to hear some great stories. These stories are fascinating to me.
In High Stake Poker it was typical Helmuth fare, with him berating the “amateur” after getting schooled, and doing the usual Poker Brat stuff to get every millisecond of camera time you he can. I respect Helmuth’s game, but his poker persona drives me absolutely bonkers.
Still no poker playing for me, played the CFL free roll on stars tonight, didn’t get anywhere. A poker buddy of mine ended up finishing third in the Round 2 this past weekend, for 150 bucks, and got eliminated on a draw out, runner runner flush, but it was a fantastic finish. He had been frustrated with poker so this finish was a great boost in the arm for him.
