Weekend thoughts

Posted by swljuggernaut on April 30, 2007

So the Yankees lost again on Sunday. People are calling for Torre’s head, people are ready to hand the division title to Boston. Personally I want the Yankees to make some moves to get some pitching help. I don’t necessarily want Clemens for 25 million for July to Oct. Sure it’s Roger Clemens. But its 44 or 45 year old Roger Clemens. I may be in the minority of Yankee fans, but I would take 2 or three years of mediocrity to get younger and build for the future. I like the direction Cashman took this past off season and i would love to see them continue in that direction.

On a sadnote in baseball this weekend, a relief pitcher with the Cardinals was killed this weekend in a car accident. Always sad to see when someone so young is killed. He wasn’t a household name, but he was still a friend, teammate, family member to alot of people out there. Cardinals lost another teammate 5 years ago when Darryl Kile was found in his hotel room. Second player killed in 6 months in MLB, the first being Cory Lidle. Just goes to show when your time is up, your time is up, don’t matter who you are, or what you got.
