Practicing

I am always looking for new games to practice my darts, and the past couple days I have been playing a game I am calling 100′s for a lack of a better name. I found this game by looking for practice games and happening upon pro player, David Depriest’s site here.

So me being a stats junky, I of course started a spreadsheet in google docs that I will keep updated. It can be found here:

The thing I think that has drawn me to darts, is that it is something that I can do by myself to improve. I am a hyper competitive person, even against myself. It is by playing as much as possible, constantly trying to improve, that will help me to improve as quickly as possible.

The background post

I am a newcomer to the game of darts. I started playing last summer with my friends, after putting up a board in my newly finished basement. Nothing serious, I would pick up my darts once a month, and throw a couple darts at the board haphazardly, just throwing, not really trying to accomplish anything. I had played very sparingly in the past, once in a while at a friends house if they had a board. Admittedly I am a terrible player.

Last summer I had a bachelor party at my house for a buddy and my friends couldn’t get enough of the darts. I started to play a little more, but still very infrequently and still with not much good results. Starting around XMAS I started to play a little more with a couple of my friends.

About February, I started to play on a pretty regular basis and started to randomly look around at dart websites and look for practice routines etc. This blog will just be a spot to talk about darts, about games with my friends, and my struggles to improve.
