Wanted

Posted by swljuggernaut on July 16, 2008

Just got back from the movies with 3 of my buddies.  I will admit I went to this movie more for the camraderie than I did to see the movie as the previews did nothing for me.  We went to see the movie Wanted, starring Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie and some newcomers.

I grew up reading comics Mostly Captain America, Spiderman, Xmen, Etc and really enjoyed comics.  I find it very strange that I can take or leave the comic based movies.  So since this movie is yet another based on a comic, I kinda knew going in what to expect.

I am not one of those people that pick apart a movie based on realism, I go to a movie to be entertained.  I get enough "real" in my life, movies are to entertain, and this movie was entertaining.  In my opinion, the story was a bit all over the place, but there was plenty of action, and a couple good twists.  I would recommend watching if you enjoy the comic back genre movies, and don’t mind a few "there’s no freaking way that could happen" moments…haha

Hancock

Posted by swljuggernaut on July 3, 2008

Went to see the movie Hancock tonight with my buddy. I will preface this with the fact that I am a really big Will Smith fan. I really enjoyed the movie, its funny, lots of action and a very entertaining movie. It sets up well for a second, (i have read they already may be signed for a sequel) or it stands pretty well on its own. Jason Bateman is good in the movie as well. I always have found he is good when not forced to carry a vehicle, be it movie or tv. And Charleze Theron, yummmmmmm. lol

Won’t give anything away (altho my one potential reader was with me haha) but will just say I really enjoyed it and I hope it becomes a franchise! I am a huge movie fan, and since children I don’t see many movies in the theatre anymore, but I am glad I saw this one. Much better than his last I am Legend. (which i enjoyed until the last 5 min).

Posted by swljuggernaut on January 22, 2008

Just got in from seeing the movie Cloverfield with my buddy….and one word Awesome. I won’t say much about it here, cause I wouldn’t want to ruin it for my 3 readers (2 of which were not with me to see the movie, lol) but just take my advice, go see this movie.

Movies and more Movies!

Posted by swljuggernaut on December 26, 2007

Well Boxing day already. Yesterday was a great day down at my inlaws. Got in a nice two hour walk, had a few beer, a great supper and had great driving there and back.

I have been doing a lot of blogging on my Treo cell phone lately, but as usual have misplaced the cable to transfer the contents of the phone to the computer. Once I find it again I will transfer the posts over to my various blogs.

I went to the local Rogers video store this am and picked up 7 bargain basement videos. I could have easily spent 150 bucks in there but the boss told me not to buy too much. As it is I bought, Platoon, Family Guy Season 1 and 2, Ace Ventura 1 and 2, Little Women (for the kids and wife), a Garfield movie, Something About Mary, and Be Cool. Add those to the movies we got for xmas (about 10 more for the family as a whole) and got lots to watch!

Kids are playing the Wii, and I just came in from a two hour walk with the dog. Back is tight as a result but in the long run I think I will be better for it. I am trying to work my way back up to 10000 steps a day (the walk was 12000). It’s the first day in 3 months I have walked that far for sure.

All for now off to watch some mindless comedy!

Live Free or Die Hard

Posted by swljuggernaut on November 21, 2007

I bought the unrated version of Live free or Die Hard today and I got to tell you, the unrated version of this movie is one of the best action movies of the year (with Bourne Ultimatum).

You wouldn’t think it but all the expletives and blood removed from the theatrical version really complete this movie. I mean, a sanitized Mclean just isn’t the John Mclean of the movies I grew up with. This is a fitting close to my favorite series of all time.
