Golf kicked my butt!

Posted by swljuggernaut on September 11, 2009

Well I went golfing today with my step father and I am paying for it now. I shot about where I expected to 113, so I certainly got my swings in, haha. Everything was going fine physically until my tee shot on 13 when my knee kinda gave way. Within a hole or so my back was killing me, and yada yada yada, I feel like I have been hit by a truck.

I still managed to get lots of work in today with the resistance bands. I am sticking to my new credo of do something, anything, for a minimum of 1 hour a day. Move move move, is the key.

Two months?

Posted by swljuggernaut on May 13, 2008

Yeesh….two months since I blogged in this here blog? Wow.

Not a whole lot going on, same old thing. I am just coming off a weeks vacation, and didn’t do a whole lot. I have not been playing much online poker as I am taking a little break to sort out my game, and needed something to fill the void so I got into the video game World of Warcraft. It’s a fun game, and am enjoying it. I tend to dive into things head first when I undertake them, drive them into the ground, and move onto the next thing when I am done. This seems to be following that pattern.

Poker wise, as I was saying, I have not been playing much. I play once or twice a month live, and am doing well, up about 1300 bucks in 2008, but online was just getting my butt kicked. I have been trying to figure out if I want to continue online or not, or just continue playing live recreationally. I find it hard to approach anything half way, and poker is definitely something I have not pursued half heartedly. I have dived into the game as a fan, student and player, and maybe I was a little burnt out. The break has done me well.

Other than that, the nice weather is finally here. Golf courses are open for the most part around here, but I have yet to play. My back is better, but I still don’t know if it would hold up to 18 holes or not. I have only played 8 rounds in 4 years because of my back, and I really miss the game. I do hope to get back into it this year in some capacity, as its something I can do (god willing) for the next 30 years or so.

At work I have three weeks left of the night shift and then I am going back to days thank god. I don’t see the kids at all on this shift and I miss them both alot. My youngest girl really doesn’t like it but its almost over. Have to make the most of the weekends.

Blogging for me on my various blogs has always been a funny thing. I love to write, and write something every day nearly, but I may hit submit on a third of the posts. I used to feel I was a very good writer, but have always said that email and msn ruined any skill I had. I also find that I censor myself alot. Not that I ever write anything about my friends or family that they would not want out there, but I guess I just find that I often write stuff that it would be easier not to put out there for all (thats my two readers, haha) to see, because I don’t feel its well written enough or whatever. However, as I have said (but not followed through with) I am going to do what I can to hit submit more often and not worry about what anyone thinks. What can I say, its a work in progress, lol.

Well thats all for now, must get going to work.

Catching up

Posted by swljuggernaut on January 30, 2008

Well, a long time has past since I last wrote in my sports blog, save for a few youtube video’s etc. As always am busy, and my inclination to write comes and goes. So what has happenned of late in the sports world that has caught my attention?

Tiger won the buick going away

Clemens is making himself look more guilty in the court of public opinion the more he appears in public

They actually played a great game at the NHL Allstar game this past weekend

Sidney Crosby was hurt

Those fucking Patriots ran it to 18-0 with only a Manning standing in their way of the greatest season ever

Roy Jones beat Felix Trinidad handily

and The Yankees dodged a bullet by NOT getting Santana. I simply think Hughes Kennedy and Cabrera is too big a price to pay.

I’ll try and post more in the future.

Sports Overload!!

Posted by swljuggernaut on September 9, 2007

Well I am on Sports Overload right now! First full day of NFL, watching the BMW Golf Championships, watching the Yankees scores on the internet, and yesterday watched Michigan just get destroyed (losing their QB Henne in the process).

Alex Rodriguez is just on a ridiculous run over the last week. He just missed by feet a second two homerun INNING in a couple days, and just today as I write this he just hit a HR a few moments ago in the 1st inning.

I got the NFL football package and I am skipping around watching like 5 games at once right now checking in on my fantasy teams and players. I just love football season and I am looking forward to having access to ALL the games this year.

Michigan……blah. Not a lot to say, they got destroyed again. Going from 5th ranked, having 3 of the main guys stay back to have a shot at winning a championship and then having this start, losing both games at home…..bah. They have lost 4 straight, and the QB left hurt, and Hart the main back was hobbled as well. Just not good times for Michigan.

Well, back to the games, halftimes are over. Will be back.

Long time no blog

Posted by swljuggernaut on August 12, 2007

Well, another long drought of sports posts for me but there certainly is lots to right about sports wise!

First off, Tiger winning another Major. I was away on Sunday so missed all but the last three wholes but watched every minute of the coverage on Saturday of the PGA. I was drawn into the sport by Tiger, having not been a fan growing up. I knew of the main guys, and watched the majors with my friends when they were on but I was drawn into the sport thru tiger and also once I took up the game myself 7 years ago. I also enjoy watching guys like Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson and Mike Weir but Tiger is my favorite. He’s now 5 majors away from the King, Jack.

In baseball the Yankees are charging hard. They have the best record in MLB since the Allstar game, and have cut a once 14.5 game deficit to just 4 games. The Sox must be starting to sweat now.

We are a little less than a month away from the start of the NFL season. I can’t wait for the season to start, and I am definitely getting the NFL package after not having it last year. I used to have all the sports packages with my Digital Cable package, which in the case of sports was much cheaper than satellite. Can’t wait

Masters Weekend

Posted by swljuggernaut on April 5, 2007

I am sitting down after supper having a beer and watching the late first round coverage of the masters. I love watching the Masters, even before I became a huge golf fan (during the Tiger era) I always watched the Masters and the other majors.

I will miss Saturday’s action, as I will be flying to Las Vegas but sunday I will try to see some of the Masters from Vegas be it in a bar, hotel room or whatever.

Below is some clips I watched today from Youtube with some Master’s highlights over the years:

Fellow Canadian Mike Wier’s win
