Fantasy Football

Posted by swljuggernaut on August 29, 2008

So last night was the draft for the Nevertilt Football pool. We had most of the guys show up for the live draft, with some guys that left it to auto pick. I of course drew my nemesis, TNT teammate (and don’t tell anyone, but one of my best friends) Onemanblitz in the first week. His domain is fantasy football so I will take great pleasure into beating his ass soundly in this pool.

I am new to fantasy football, having only started playing last year, but let me tell you. Sooooooooooooo much fun. It adds so much to the season for a mere 20 bucks. I am getting the NFL package on tv, I got the yahoo stat tracker which is incredible to keep track of your stuff, so I am ready to go. Can’t wait.

As far as my team, meh, not sure. I got some potential but we’ll have to wait and see. I didn’t take my token San Fran player this year (but low and behold EVERYONE of em but Gore went undrafted, lol) and I am a little iffy about my first pick. I went with Barber who I really like, but I think I should have taken Addai in that spot, which was 5th overall, maybe even Randy Moss. Oh well, 6 days til kickoff, can’t wait!

Lost my matchup in football pool

Posted by swljuggernaut on December 17, 2007

Well I officially ended my initial foray into fantasy football on a down note yesterday losing to my buddy who I had beat twice previously this season. I didn’t just lose I got smoked with most of my players not stepping up to the plate. In my other pools I wasn’t a factor anymore so yesterday was my last shot at salvaging the fantasy football year. I still have a game next week for third place against one of my best friends and biggest rivals in everything, but still, I had hoped to be going to the finals.

Watched lots of football yesterday as always on Sundays. There was some pretty nasty weather at some of the games, and then in some of the later games on the West Coast some pretty nice weather. It was good to see Favre take down yet another record, and surprising to see the ‘Boys lose to PHIL. Something about that Mcnabb just bugs me but I can’t put my finger on it.

Not alot else in the sports world from my end. I missed the Arod interview on 60 min but I read up on it today. He sure put a bullseye on his back by signing on the dotted line to the two biggest contract in the sport. All in all I am glad he remained a Yankee, but I feel he has some work to do to fix his relationship if you will with the fans. Wonder if he cares?

Patriots, Mitchell Report, and fantasy pools

Posted by swljuggernaut on December 16, 2007

Well the Mitchell Report came out a few days ago, but did not really bring with it a whole bunch of new information that already wasn’t floating around out there. Seems like a lot of hearsay and no real confirmed anything (no tests were taken). My biggest thought with all of this has always been, How the fuck is Selig getting off Scott Free in all of this” I just don’t get it. I think he should be a guilty party in all of this too.

Well today in football the question seems to be will the Patriots score 70? Billecheck must be livid with Mangini after the whole spygate thing, and the Jets are a pretty hapless group. Look for Brady to be in there to the end and throw it 50 times.

Today is round 2 of the playoffs in my main football pool. Next week is the championship game. I am pretty confident of moving on to the finals but you never know. In hockey I have slipped to 4th in my main pool, and I am still in bottom third of my keeper league, but I am happy with some of that team, going into next year.

That’s about all for now, going to set up my pickem teams for the day

They are who we thought they were

Posted by swljuggernaut on November 5, 2007

With apologies to Dennis Green, The Pats are who we thought they are (best in league) and are on the path to going 16-0. They played well, fought through horrible reffing, and overcame a 10 point deficit late in the game. As much as I try to dislike him, I do like Brady. I am a Michigan fan, and he came out of Michigan. His favorite player was my favorite Niner, Montana. He seems like a normal guy. Hard not to like him. But despite that, I wanted NE to lose yesterday, although as I said pregame yesterday I thought they would win, and I didn’t even think it would be close. Tough tough team.

In other news I lost my first game in the fantasy league leaving me one game ahead of second, who coincidentally I am playing next week. Biggest game of season for me. I almost sat Edgerin James yesterday, and while it would have been a good move, I still would have lost. Oh well.

Most hyped game ever?

Posted by swljuggernaut on November 4, 2007

Well we are a few hours away from the IND vs NE game. I personally would like nothing more than IND to continue their 3 game winning streak against the Pats. I have been watching the hype all week, and watching it on the various pre-game shows this week. It’s going to be an interesting game no matter what happens. I am going for IND but think the Pats win, possibly going away.

I am looking to win my 9th straight game this week in my fantasy pool, but I am in tough against a tough opponant this week. Time will tell if I continue the run. Lot’s of good games today. I will be back later to talk about the games I see.
