This morning I took advantage of a beautiful day and went for a walk on a local trail, The Dobson Trail. I was on the trail by 7:55 am and I walked an hour out, and was back in 45 for some reason.
If you can’t see what the sign says here is a closeup.
That plaque was put there in 1995 to commemorate the 35th year of the trail, so using my brilliant math skills you can see that this trail has been used by residents for 50 years!
From the parking lot, you can walk the length of the trail which is 58 km long to Fundy National Park. I don’t have time or the endurance to undertake such a hike at this time, so I walked an hour out and an hour back.
The trail is in immaculate shape, and is as dry as a summers day in 95 percent of the spots I saw. It is maintained by volunteers and is a 4 season trail, thus used year round.
Some more sites from my walk:
a campsite with a fire pit, one of many along the path
you can’t tell by this picture, but thats actually about a 100 foot drop there!
It was a great walk in the woods. It’s so nice to walk not far from my home and be far enough out, where I don’t hear any cars or other noises, and really the only sound is the running stream. I will be taking advantage of my weeks vacation and try to head out on a local trail by foot or mountain bike everyday.
