Richard Jeni died over the weekend in an apparent suicide. He was a great stand up comedian, and the rumor mill has been running rampant over probable causes. Surely no one but those close to him know the real story as to why he did what he did, but that won’t stop the vultures in the press from kicking over rocks, and going thru trash bins looking for info.
I have had this conversation many times before with friends. The paprazzi, the media and that bunch are always lurking around celebrities looking for dirt, looking for some crack in the armor. Believe me, by no stretch of the imagination do i feel sorry for celebrities. But by the same token I would not want every single move i make, every person I talk to, every choice I make to be out their for public consumption. No matter how intrusive the paprazzi are, no matter how many stories are out there on the celebrity du jour, we don’t know these people fully. Sure you may hear more than you ever want to know about Bradjelina, or Paris Hilton, or whoever, but the common everyday Joe does not know these people.
So while I have seen on a couple message boards, blogs, “Why would Richard (speaking as if they knew him) do such a thing? He had so much going for him….” people have to realize that no one really knows the WHOLE story. Whatever the case, whatever the reason, hopefully his pain is over .
