on tracker….if you have a membership there you can see em, my username is, creatively enough Leighton. At this time won’t be posting my pics on my blog, but I may change my mind, we will see.

I am home from work again, with a wicked backlash from having my neck in uncomfortable position in the MRI machine last night for 25 min. I hope to go back to work tomorrow. That’s all I got for now, I am working on suitable, challenging realistic goals for the 3 challenges (thats right 3) I am running at once. 5 months from today I am leaving for Florida with my family. I will weigh 50 lbs less by then, starting today. The marathon (26 week) challenge on tracker runs to near the end of April, so that superceeds both the “50 in 5″ as I am calling it and the regular 12 week challenge. I will start with my goals for the 26 week challenge, then the “50 in 5″ then back to the 12 week challenge.

Ok I have to go apply more ice to my neck. I will be back with my goals soon.

My new Beginning Starts tomorrow

Tonight after I came home from physio and went to BFL-tracker for the first time in a month probably.  I saw they are having contests for the wall in both the 12 week variety and 26 week variety.  Well this is exactly what i need.  I signed up for (and paid for) both.  65 American it cost me.  Not life changing money but not so little that its not noticed.

 

Both contests start tomorrow  for me:

 

Challenge 1:  12 weeks October 28th til Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Challenge 2:  26 weeks October 28th til Tuesday, April 28, 2009

 

I am not going to fill this up with flowery bullshit.  I am hurting right now physically.  But I NEED THIS.  I need to take control of my life my health and my physical condition.  I will finish these challenges if I have to crawl to the finish on my hands and knees.

Start of the Week

Well here we go, another Monday.  I am just on my way out the door to walk the 4 km to work.  It’s starting to get pretty chilly in the mornings and its tricky to dress properly.  You got to dress properly to be warm enough, but not so much that you sweat like crazy. 

 

I stayed up late last night watching the last Yankee Stadium game and switching over to the Dallas vrs Greenbay game.  I got up at 8:30 am had breakfast, did some of my physio exercises with the stretch rubber bands, read a little on the net, and now I got to get moving to work.

 

This week I will be attempting to get my daily food intake back into Fitday, (until last couple days I had been up to date on paper) and get into the gym 3 times for weights.  Looking forward to have a solid progress week and getting my shit together.

Sore

Well, not a lot going on this weekend on the fitness front.  No reason why, no funk, nothing going on.  Just didn’t do a whole lot besides a couple walks with the dog, some moderate stretching and a very little Wii.  Expect to be back full blast on the strict(er) eating and back to the gym sessions tomorrow.

 

As the title says, I am pretty sore.  The back stuff is there but then my hamstrings are freaking killing me!  Not 100 percent sure why, but am sure feeling it. 

 

I haven’t been weighing myself so I don’t know exactly where I am.  I know that my portions have not been good the past week, with the migraines and lack of appetite early in the week, to eating bigger portions later in the week.  Got to get my head back in the game and get serious again.  Have grown a little discouraged and complacent the past couple days. 

 

Anyway been working on all my blogs today, I will post links to them on the side there.  I love to write, and have a tonne of different interests so I actually keep a couple individual wordpress blogs, but all my writing is also kept at http://www.shaneleighton.wordpress.com going back to 2002, covering nearly 1100 posts.  I would have 4 times that many if I actually hit POST on everything I write.  Anyway, disjointed post tonight, but am busy watching the last yankees game, along with the packer vrs ‘Boys game.  I will be back on track this week, along with daily posts.

Weekend update

Not a tonne to report really. Haven’t been in much of a writing mood the last little while, which is strange for me. Normally I write everyday for one or another of my blogs, don’t always hit post, but I do write most days. Just not alot to say I guess.

Things are going pretty well. Went for a two hour walk today with my dog on some local trails. The rest of the day has been watching football. I may jump on Wii Fit here shortly.

Tuesday will be two weeks into my challenge and I was thinking I may follow my buddy Cory’s lead and take some progress pics, but rather than do it on a weekly basis do it on a bi-weekly basis. We’ll see haven’t quite decided yet.

Back to work tommorrow after a nice 3 day weekend. Had a work event last night, and had a good time hanging with friends and my wife. I expect tommorrow to be very busy at work, due to alot of my company’s employees being centered in the Houston area. All for now…

Coming along

Dropped under 220 lbs this morning by just a hair.  Once I get well clear of 220 (212-215) I plan on NEVER being up here again.  There is no reason for me to weigh above 200 let alone 220.  I simply don’t think considering my back issues I have any valid reason to be above 200.  So Sub 200 is on the way!

 

Today will be an UBWO after work tonight at gym number 1 (I can go to either of the two gyms from the gym chain I am a member of in my city, soon opening a third).  I prefer to work out in the morning, it energizes the rest of my day but I just have not been sleeping well for weeks now.  Still having some neck/shoulder/back pain that prevents me from getting comfortable and prevents me from sleeping.  It’s a nuisance, but what can you do.  I am doing the physio exercises I was given and hope just to make the best of it.  The more active I am the better I feel.  It’s the stationary things such as sitting (at work or at home on computer) laying or even standing in one place that cause the most discomfort.

 

Not a whole heck of a lot else new to report.  Got two good clean meals down for the day, and I am on my way to drinking my goal for water.  All for now as I got to head out the door for work.

quick Tuesday post

So, my posts have been short the last few days, but it reflects my time……short. I am exhausted and I am going to bed early (9:30 pm). Today was cardio and i got it in on an exercise bike, as well as walking 4 km to work this am.

Eats remain on track, but I don’t have much of an appetite. Got to work on that. My water intake has been up and down, I got to get that going as well. Always look to improve, never stand still. UBWO tommorrow.

Late night post

Well, another busy day, just getting time to post now. I got up, rushed to the gym for a LBWO this am, rediculous day at work, rush home, last fantasy pool of the year for football, and now, at 12 min to 11, rest. haha

The leg strength, is coming. I could have gone up on the 8 and 6 sets (BFL style 12-10-8-6-12) on the leg press but I decided to give it another workout at about 80 percent or so. Just the same I was doing about 500 lbs on the 6 rep set.

Aside from the workout i also walked to the gym/worked. (4km walk). Eats were on target today, altho worked out to be a little low again. I have it written down, to tired to transfer to fitday atm.

I weighed in at 220.7 today….down about 6 since last week, things are going well.

Anyway i am real tired. Time for rest.

As I have been watching football today, I have been sorting through thousands of pictures I have taken over the years.  I have found a few of the Before’s as well as just other pictures of me and I thought what the hell I would post em up.

Well thats enough punishment for now, haha.   I put these up here for both motivation and to give you an idea where I am coming from.  I have lost and maintained 50 lbs for 5 years before.  Its time to do it again.  My long term goal is to get down and stay between 170-180.  I will get there.

Some random thoughts

So I am on Day 6 today.  Things are going pretty good, yesterday was my first free day and I did not go crazy.  had a couple drinks (about 3 ounces of alcohol) and didn’t eat a whole lot really.  Wasn’t craving anything and wasn’t very hungry so I didn’t each much!  Ahhhhh….freeday.

 

Couple things on my first week:

 

GOOD

-blogged everyday, yay me, accountability is good

-got my 3 workouts in, even though I had to switch days around, which I suspected would happen (that "car problem" I talked about way back on day 1, 787 dollars, sigh)

-got in good days on the old pedometer, its important that I move move move

 

NOT SO GOOD

-haven’t kept up to date on fitday, even though writing everything down on paper, will work on that

-that damn donut on Thurs night

-wanted to go for a nice long walk yesterday, and sat around and did nothing.  So little that I got BARELY 1000 steps yest, lol

 

All in all I am pleased.  I am looking to instill healthy habits and discipline in my life and make a legit lifestyle change that I follow FOR LIFE.  I will never be perfect.  I like my once or twice a month beer with the boys.  I won’t be giving that up.  But eating healthy making good, healthy decisions 90 percent of the time is something I can do, and something I won’t stray from.

 

Football day, so I will go for now, got to check on my fantasy football teams but I will be back later today.
