New Venue

Posted by swljuggernaut on April 15, 2009

So thus far, accept for one night over xmas at a Lions club where we played a few games, and another night where i played in a bar for two hours, I have played nearly all my darts in my basement. One thing about my basement, is my ceilings are low. Tonight I went over to my buddy Zeeks house, probably the best player at this point of my group of buddies.

We were having an nhl playoff hockey pool, and while we were waiting to start, and afterwards for a bit we played a few games. We played 4 games of 3 handed 301 at 5 bucks a game, and 2 games of baseball (the first 10 innings, the second 20 innings). I also played one game against my buddy Donnie which I won. Of the 3 handed games, I won 2/4 of the 301, and 1 of 2 in the baseball. I played pretty well tonight, and was happy, and had alot of fun.

I am not good enough yet to play for any more than 2-5 bucks a game, and actually play quite a bit just for the competition. Really I play much more darts by myself practicing, probably by a factor of 5, than I do against the boys. It’s fun to practice through the week, and then once a week or whatever play against the boys.

As always enjoying getting a few games in and also playing some different than the 301 or whatever once in a while. Didn’t get to play cricket, my favorite game thus far, but played 2 games of baseball also a fun game. I am going to do some research and look to see some other games.

Baseball times a'coming!

Posted by swljuggernaut on February 17, 2008

Well pitchers and catchers have reported to camp! Love it. I love baseball season. With Football now down ’til the fall, its time for the snow to go away, for golf courses to open and for Baseball to start!

I am wondering how my Yankees are going to do this year. I don’t feel that we did enough to address our pitching problems, but by the same token I am glad that we didn’t give up Kennedy and Hughes for Santana. The hitters should be good, even though we have a hole at first base, I am not too worried about that. Like everyone else’s team they are a year older and not getting any younger. I would like to be rid of damon and giambi, but i think one more year if I am not mistaken. Can’t wait til opening day. What do we have, 6 weeks?

Stayrod?

Posted by swljuggernaut on November 15, 2007

So just a short note to mention the biggest rumor in MLB. Looks like Arod has come crawling back and looking to make a deal. I think this is a great move, and a great start to fixing his rep and his status with his fans. I was a huge critic when he walked away from the Yanks. By the same token, if I had to chose between having the best player in MLB playing for the Yanks or against the Yanks, I would want him with the Yanks. Hopefully the deal can be made. I also hope that Boras stays out of it, cause that man, altho the “best” at what he does, just may be, as I have often said, the devil.

Posada is back, Sandman is on his way, and now Arod. If these two pieces fall in place, fixing the pitching staff is next on the list.

Blah

Posted by swljuggernaut on October 31, 2007

The whole Arod thing bugs me, as if you couldn’t tell by me blogging about it three days in a row. We now have a huge whole in the infield and we are losing a 310 50 140 guy. But you know what, I am fine with them sticking to their guns and not resigning him. I am hoping that they are able to make some moves. I would like to see Posada back. Rivera, I would like back but I don’t see it. I wish they would unload Giambi and Damon, but I don’t see them dumping them all.

I like the way Cashman has been going over the last year and a half or so. I like the rebuilding of the prospects and the farm. I am not like some Yankee fans, and I would take a year or two of mediocrity if it meant getting younger. I know that the Yankees being the Yankees will always be in the conversations of the big free agents, but I like Cashman’s stated vision for the team.

I did manage to stay undefeated in my football pool, and in my two main hockey pools I am mid pack. I am hoping to make a deal or two to sure up the team in the league allowing trades. I meant to go pick up forsberg a couple days and when i went to grab him off the wire he was gone. I can see him coming back and playing in Ottawa, somewhere where the pressure is off him, and he doesn’t have to be a savoir.

NBA started last night. I grew up a huge fan but the last year or two I did not watch the reg season as much. I am going to try and get more viewing in this year. I have always been a Laker fan going back to showtime, but also cheered for the Bulls as Jordan is my favorite athlete ever in every sport. Kobe is a distraction, and the smart money is on him not being traded, unless its for another tier 1 star, ie Iverson, Carter, TMAC, etc, and I just don’t see it happening. I like the player, but the whiny person can be anoying.
